MSP BRINGS EYEMOUTH TO HOLYROOD12.00.00am GMT Tue 19th Feb 2008 Jim Hume, MSP for the South of Scotland, is pleased to welcome Marine Quest of Eyemouth as his guest business and nominated local company for the Scottish Parliament’s Business in the Parliament Conference starting on Thursday of this week (21st Feb). Jim Hume said:- “This is the fourth Business in the Parliament Conference and I’m delighted that Iain Easingwood of Marine Quest in Eyemouth accepted my invitation to accompany me as one of the businesses in my area. “I was particularly pleased that Mr Easingwood agreed to come along because Marine Quest, which he runs with his parents, is an excellent example of diversification. His father’s fishing boat in Eyemouth was decommissioned about three years ago. The family stayed in the area and diversified into diving, pleasure fishing and sea trips. The family has also developed a specialist bunkhouse for divers and for which they provide catering. The MSP continued:- “The purpose of the event is to allow people access to MSPs, decision makers, Ministers and those in industry so that they can discuss the problems they face as well as exchange ideas. “The conference kicks off with a dinner on Thursday evening followed by a conference on Friday. The dinner is an informal way for people to mix and discuss common areas of interest and the conference on Friday is a full programme of speakers, workshops and discussion sessions. “It should be a lively and interesting event and I’m looking forward to listening to Mr Easingwood’s views, and sharing ideas and information with him and other businesses across Scotland. “It’s an especially good opportunity to highlight the work of Marine Quest of Eyemouth and to promote this successfully diversified business.”
