MSP CONGRATULATES PORT WILLIAM SCHOOL

12.00.00am GMT Tue 25th Nov 2008

Jim Hume, MSP for the South of Scotland, has today congratulated Port William Primary School for being the only Scottish finalist in the Big Yellow Pages Art Competition.

The competition is a chance for young people to create artwork from unwanted or old Yellow Pages and is aimed as raising awareness of recycling.

Jim Hume said:

“This is a great achievement for the pupils of primary five and six at Port William, and they should feel very proud to be the only finalists from Scotland.

“They should also be very proud of the fact that through their inventive artwork of Argon the Dragon, the children are raising awareness of recycling.

The MSP continued:

“I have already voted online for Argon the Dragon and I hope that people will do the same. This proactive and engaging work deserves support and I wish the pupils every success in the competition.”
